About the Journal
Written in the Waves
An online journal for Atlantic-based research, primarily conducted by women.
Written in the Waves is an online journal for Atlantic-based research in the fields of history, anthropology, folklore, and multimedia.
We highlight rigorous scholarship alongside traditionally overlooked formats — folklore, textiles, oral history, and storytelling — and centre work primarily conducted by women.
Scope
Our remit is the Atlantic world in its fullest sense: the Americas, island nations, Atlantic Europe, Northern Europe, and Atlantic Africa. We are interested in the connections, crossings, and currents that bind these places together across time.
"A call to academic excellence as much as it is to whimsy and beauty."
